Trowleks



The trowleks are a horrible race of conquorors and destroyers, that which they can not make use of is eliminated (they are oftem identified by their battle cry “Eliminate”). They travel from world to world eliminating all life they can not bend to their will. They appear as man-high or taller mechanical war-machines modeled on chess pieces covered with baroque studs and flanges.


Trowleks are considered to be viscious war-mahcine but this is a mistake as they are not constructs however they are a twisted and diminutive race that can only survive for long sealed up inside their mechanical shells. 

Their culture is militaristic, imperialist, and caste based. At the very top is the rarely seen Emperor, beneath him a king and the seldom seen queen, they are served by bishops, knight, rooks, and pawns. Beneath the pawn one will find quislings, servitors, slaves, and targets drawn from memebrs of lesser life (well, lesser to the Trowleks).

Trowleks are an ancient race and their mastery of technology is so extensive it is indistinguishable form magic to many beings. Trowlek are protected by energy screens that function as complete protection vs normal missiles. 

Trowlek Pawn, this is the basic soldier of the the trowlek. Do not be deceived by the lowly status of a pawn they are a true trowlek and as such are a threat to entire communities. Pawns have limited mobility being unable to climb stairs or navigate rough terrain. Trowlek defense give them superior saving throws (reflected in save score). 

 Trowlek Pawn HD 6; AC 0 [19]; Atk 1beam, ; Save 9; Move 6; AL C; C:8; Mrl:11;WIL:16 Special: Immune to 1st and 2nd level spells. Protection from normal missiles.

Trowlek Rook, these are masters of trowlek magitech able to bend artifacts and technology to the goals of the trowleks. A rook can project a telekinetic beam powerful enough to lift a knight mounted on a warhorse they use this ability to  assist the mobility of pawns and themselves, they can’t project the beam on themselves but they can use it to move platforms they stand on.

 Trowlek Rook HD 8; AC -2 [21]; Atk 1 beam, ; Save 8; Move 6; AL C; CL:10; Mrl:11;WIL:17 Special: Immune to 1st to 3rd  level spells. Protection from normal missiles.

Trowlek knights are elite warriors of the trowlek race they are a threat to entire worlds. They are able to levitate upward at a rate of 60’ a round (will not usually fall) and may propel themselves while levitating so they in truth fly.

Trowlek Knight  HD 9; AC -4 [23]; Atk 1 beam, ; Save 7; Move 9 (Fly 9); AL C; CL:11; Mrl:11;WIL:17 Special: Immune to 1st to 3rd  level spells. Protection from normal missiles.

Trowlek Bishops are the lowest rank of the commanding castes of Trowleks. Three times a day may project a 10’ radius anti-magic sphere. May use Hold Person once a day.

Trowlek Bishop HD 11; AC -6[25]; Atk 1 beam; Save 6; Move 9(Fly 12); AL CL:13 Mrl:11;WIL:18 Special: Immune to 1st to 4th level spells. Protection from missiles. Anti—magic sphere.

Trowlek  King, the many leader of any planetary system controlled by trowleks. Three times a day may project a 30’ radius anti-magic sphere. May communicate telepathically with all Daleks within 1000’. May use Hold Person 3 times a day.

Trowlek King HD 13; AC -8[27]; Atk 1 beam; Save 5; Move 9(Fly 12); AL CL:15 Mrl:11;WIL:19 Special: Immune to 1st to 4th level spells. Protection from missiles. Anti—magic sphere.

Trowlek Queen a seldom seen caste that is present in any large trowlek group. All trowlek within 50’ of her regenerate 3hp a round. Three times a day may project a 20’ radius anti-magic sphere. May teleport up to 100 feet twice a day. May communicate telepathically with any being it is aware of within 1000’. May use charm person once per day.

Trowlek Queen HD 15; AC -8[27]; Atk 1 beam; Save 5; Move 6 (Fly 18); AL CL:17 Mrl:11;WIL:20 Special: Immune to 1st to 4th level spells. Protection from missiles. Anti—magic sphere.

Trowlek Emperor, There is only one Trowlek emperor at a time. The trowlek emperor is constantly protected by a 50’ radius anti-magic sphere. The Emperor may teleport at will up to 200’. The emperor may communicate telepathically with any being within 2 miles it is aware of. There has been more then one Emperor throughout the ages, the emperor often has abilities equal to a spell-caster or psychic of 12th level. All emperors may use charm person 3 times a day.

Trowlek beams:
The entries above don’t mention the damage casued by trowlek beams because they should vary base don the campaign. In some they are blasters that require a hit roll and casue ½ the creautres HD in damage dice. In others they are short range death rays (treat as breath weapon causing trowleks’s hp in damage), or disintegration beams (save vs wands or eliminated). DMs should choose a weapon that fits the danger they want trowleks to be in the campaign (or vary from scenario to scenario).

Notes:
No secret where these guys came from... I used a variation on these in the past for much fun and amusement in my game. The beams really do seem to be the major effect to consider while scaling them to fit in as anyone with half a brain will flee them and likely not discover their other capabilities.
